ZHAMBYL REGION. January 11. KAZINFORM /Galina Skripnik/ Zhambyl region Governor Kanat Bozumbayev will start the torch relay of the Asian Games - 2011 in Taraz.

'Taraz will be one of the first cities of Kazakhstan to hold the torch relay of the Asian Games - 2011', head of the regional department of tourism and sport Bakhityar Artayev said.

B. Artayev said that Zhambyl former sportsmen, athletes with disabilities, sports patrons and others would participate in the ceremony.

Sportsmen of Kazakhstan Islam Bairamukov, Bolat Niyazymbetov, Bolat Zhumadilov will carry the flame of the Asian Games in Taraz.

'Well-known Kazakh actor Assanali Ashimov, singer Meyrambek Bespaev and Aigul Imanbaeva and other cultural figures are expected to take part in the event', B. Artayev added.

Bakhityar Artayev is an Olympic champion and will be involved in the torch relay with other Olympic champions in Astana.

The length of the Taraz leg starting from the Park of the First President to the Monument Zhambyl Zhabayev is 12 kilometers. Every torch bearer will carry the torch 200 meters, B. Artayev noted.
