Yaroslava Shvedova sneaks into 2nd round of Wimbledon

ASTANA. LONDON - Kazakhstan's Yaroslava Shvedova won in the first-round match at the 2014 Wimbledon Championships in London last night, Kazinform has learnt from Sports.kz.

The 26-year-old Shvedova needed 1h 59 min to defeat Kristyna Pliskova from the Czech Republic in three tight sets 3:6, 6:4, 8:6. The Kazakh athlete served 7 aces and made 9 double faults and 44 unforced efforts.

Shvedova will play against Estonian Kaia Kanepi who routed Jelena Jankovic from Serbia.
