World Journalists Conference opened in Seoul

SEOUL. April 15. KAZINFORM - More than a hundred representatives of mass media from around the world gathered in Seoul to participate in the World Conference discussing the future of journalism.

The Congress, which was first held in South Korea, joins about 110 journalists from 74 countries. Among the participants is the President of the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) Jim Bumelya.

At the Press Center building in Seoul in his opening ceremony speech the Prime Minister of the Republic of Korea Chung Heung Wong called on to pass the desire and aspiration of South Korean people "to world peace."

"Journalists and the Internet influence the tense situation on the Korean peninsula”, the Prime Minister of South Korea said. - We have seen many cases when one picture, one line in the article had changed the whole world.

Seoul will also host a conference called "The Future of Journalism in the Digital Age." As expected, participants will visit the demilitarized zone on the border with North Korea.

The event attendees will agree on the Peace Declaration.
