WEEKLY REVIEW: Kazakhstan President announces new economic policy Nurly Zhol

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - November 11, President Nursultan Nazarbayev announced that Kazakhstan will launch the new economic policy Nurly Zhol (The path to the Future).

The announcement was made at the enlarged session of the Political Council of the Nur Otan Party at the Nazarbayev Center in Astana.

The Head of State explained that the new State-of-the-Nation address would be delivered ahead of time so that the Kazakh Government had time to prepare for the upcoming year, map out plans and proceed to work in 2015 promptly. The National Fund of the Republic of Kazakhstan is expected to allot additional $3 billion annually to support economy in 2015-2017. To this end, the Government is to prepare the corresponding decree in a week and allot the necessary funds in the draft republican budget for 2015. "The Government will also assume measures in order to ensure effective and rational use of these funds. A special commission will strictly observe the use of each tenge and report to me personally," said the President.

The Head of State stressed that governors of the regions and the Nur Otan Party will keep strict watch on the use of funds as well. Prime Minister Karim Massimov, who was in Ust-Kamenogorsk, East Kazakhstan, introduced the new Akim of the region - Daniyal Akhmetov. On the same day Mr. Massimov urged the newly elected Governor of the region Daniyal Akhmetov and Deputy Prime Minister Berdybek Saparbayev to adequately fulfill the new economic program Nurly Zhol. The Prime Minister stressed that Daniyal Akhmetov's experience as a member of the board of the Eurasian Economic Commission will effectively solve practical problems of the region. Kazakh Prime Minister Karim Massimov has also held a meeting with the Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili, who arrived in Kazakhstan on an official visit. During the meeting, Mr. Massimov and Mr.Garibashvili discussed a wide range of issues of trade and economic, investment and transit-transport cooperation. Following the talks, the heads of governments held a joint press conference. The Prime Minister of Kazakhstan emphasized that the key issue on the agenda was the expansion of transit-transport corridors linking the two states. In this regard, K. Massimov said that Kazakhstan is interested in the speedy completion of the construction of "Baku-Tbilisi-Kars" railway. During the VII meeting of the Kazakh-German Business Council on strategic cooperation Vice Minister for Investment and Development Albert Rau said that Kazakhstan considers proposals for the construction of agricultural machinery factory "CLAAS" and "John Deere".
