ASTANA. KAZINFORM "The aggregate volume of the recoverable basic fuel resources of Kazakhstan such as oil, gas, coal and uranium stands at some 35 bln tons of oil equivalent," Energy Minister Vladimir Shkolnik said addressing the Energy Charter conference in Astana.

"Kazakhstan enjoying vast energy resources and decades-long successful experience in energy cooperation is situated at the intersection of the largest energy flows. Our country has unique coal, uranium, oil and natural gas reserves," Shkolnik said. "Besides, Kazakhstan has great potential of hydropower engineering and harnessing of other renewable resources." "The aggregate volume of the recoverable basic fuel resources of Kazakhstan such as oil, gas, coal and uraniumstands at some 35 bln tons of oil equivalent. The current annual overall production of primary energy resources reaches 400 mln tons, while the country's domestic consumption stands at 60 mln tons," he noted. He also stressed that Kazakhstan is a country that has energy surplus and is a significant energy exporter.
