ASTANA. October 14. KAZINFORM Senate Speaker of Kazakhstan Kairat Mami has met with President of Malaysian Parliament Abu Zahar Ujang in Astana today, the Kazakh Senate's press service informs.

Kairat Mami stressed that Kazakhstan considers Malaysia as the leading country in Southeast Asia region that prides on having an extensive political and economic potential. Thanks to the leaders of Kazakhstan and Malaysia, the two countries have reached high level of cooperation. Currently, the sides bend every effort to implement the agreements reached during the state visit of President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev to Malaysia in April 2012.

The Kazakh Senate Speaker emphasized that visit of the Malaysian MP to Kazakhstan opens a new page in the bilateral relations of the countries, significantly strengthening the inter-parliamentary dimension.

Successful development of the bilateral commercial and economic cooperation was noted during the meeting. The sales turnover between Kazakhstan and Malaysia is gaining momentum as well as partnership relations between business circles of the two states. More than two thousand students reportedly pursue their studies in Malaysia.

It was also noted that Kazakhstan and Malaysia share common stance on many issues of the international agenda and successfully cooperate within international and regional organizations.
