Two killed as helicopter crashes in south Russia

ROSTOV-ON-DON. February 6. KAZINFORM Two people were killed after a helicopter crashed in Russia's southern republic of Kalmykia, a source in the local law enforcement bodies said on Sunday.

Accoding to RIA Novosti, the Mi-2 helicopter crashed on Saturday at 23:00 Moscow time (20:00 GMT) and the two people killed in the crash are a pilot and a flight engineer.

The crew landed the helicopter due to a technical malfunction and the flight engineer fixed the problem. But after the crew took off again the helicopter could not stay in the air and crashed on the ground, the source said.

He added that the helicopter belonged to the All-Russia Defense Sports and Technical Organization (ROSTO).
