TURKSOY sec gen reelected for a third term

ASTANA. KAZINFORM Duisen Kaseinov has been unanimously re-elected as secretary general of TURKSOY for a third term in a row, the Kazakh Culture and Sport Ministry said.

The members of the Permanent Council noted TURKSOY fruitful activities. As stated there, it became an influential international organization, largely, thanks to its secretary general. The International Organization of Turkic Culture ( TURKSOY) is an international cultural organization of countries with Turkic populations, speaking languages belonging to the Turkic language family. It has its headquarters in Ankara. The organization has its roots in meetings during 1992 in Baku and Istanbul, where the ministers of culture from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkey, and Turkmenistan declared their commitment to cooperate in a joint cultural framework. TURKSOY was subsequently established by an agreement signed on July 12, 1993 in Almaty.
