Top 10 things Kazakhstan is famous for
Online magazine 'Vlast' made a list of top 10 brands that are associated with Kazakhstan, 'Express K' newspaper reads.
Unsurprisingly, Kazakhstan is associated with oil and 'the black gold' takes the number one spot in the list. Kazakhstan produces approximately 81 million tons of oil per year.
The runner-up in the top ten of Kazakhstani brands is Baikonur, the first and the largest space launch complex in the world.
Nursultan Nazarbayev took the third spot. A lot of people in the world associate Kazakhstan with the last name of the First President of the country.
Pro Team Astana cycling team came fourth thanks to a sensational contract signed with Lance Armstrong back in 2009.
Borat, of course. The fictitious Kazakh journalist, a character played by English comedian Sasha Baron Cohen, takes number five in the rating. Borat attracted so many tourists to Kazakhstan that its tourism business increased tenfold.
Kazakhstan is also associated with its Chairmanship in the OSCE, the OSCE Summit in Astana, 'Nevada-Semipalatinsk' anti-nuclear movement, Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions in Astana and 2011 Winter Olympic Games.
