ASTANA. KAZINFORM "Ulytau is a sacred place for the Kazakh people," deputy director of the Kazakh National Geographic Society Saulet Sakenov told a press conference at the Central Communications Service under the Kazakh President in Astana.

"We celebrate the 550th anniversary of the Kazakh statehood and the very Ulytau was then the cultural and political centre. It is the historical place of gathering of Kazakh khans, it is the place where Zhoshy Khan, Tokhtamysh, Yedyge were buried. Ulytau witnessed the two most important fights when the Kazakhs defeated the Dzhungars. Thanks to Ulytay the Kazakh Khanate was preserved. The Kazakhs started to unite their tribes to start the fight and free the whole territory of the country," he resumed.
