ATY. May 26. KAZINFORM /Yelena Ilyinskaya/ The historical decision of Kazakhstan on renunciation of nuclear weapons allowed strengthening the status of the independent republic and getting guarantees of own security from the nuclear empires. Olzhas Suleimenov, Permanent Representative of RK to the UNESCO,

President of Nevada-Semey International Anti-Nuclear Movement, outstanding poet and scientist noted it at a meeting with scientific community and youth held at the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University in Almaty yesterday.

According to him, our country heads in fact the international movement towards nuclear-weapons-free world, emphasizing and demonstrating that building interstate relations on the basis of mutual respect and tendency to consent are a pledge of mutually-beneficial settlement of foreign policy problems and conflicts. «Kazakhstan's position was announced at the recent Global Nuclear Security Summit in Washington. The voice of our country is heard and followed. Sovereign Kazakhstan is the epicenter of the world», he noted.

О. Suleimenov is a direct participant of the historical events, connected with the process of formation of the independent Kazakhstan and its self-determination in the system of international relations. Owing to political will of President Nursultan Nazarbayev and contribution of "Nevada-Semey" movement and its leader, our republic serves today as a model of nuclear non-proliferation policy and creation of nuclear-weapons-free world.

О. Suleimenov proposed to erect an obelisk "Here the third world war was stopped" at the former Semipalatinsk nuclear testing site.

During the meeting another problems were also discussed. The poet, thinking about what the democracy is and how it is accepted in different societies, says that although censure was banned on the post-Soviet space, coarse language is widespread in literature to date.

Olzhas Suleimenov said that he had always followed five "NOs": no to national exclusiveness, no to force, no to propaganda of war, no to pornography and no to religion. His principle of life is to be a patriot of any abased nation. «In 1990 when tanks entered Baku I was the only representative of the whole Soviet Union there. Till present day Azerbaijani people thank me and remember this event. I did it as patriot of every abased nation», stated poet.

Today due to the UNESCO the idea of planetary conscious is implemented. «We used to live in our own national space and to observe only other people's problems. We either can not or do not want to live in a planetary society. The UNESCO announced 2010 the Year of Rapprochement of Cultures for solving namely this problem», Permanent facts be perceived unambiguously.

«For example, the Great World War. Now I read a lot about how the Soviet flag was hoisted over the Reichstag. I have personal memoirs of legendary Rakhymzhan Koshkarbayev, how it was indeed. I have also Bauyrzhan Momyshuly's memoirs about the war. This year I have been very busy and I could not write about these people. I am proud that I knew them and I am under obligation to them. But I see much lie in the historical programs and films shown on T today. I am sure that historians should not allow this», О. Suleimenov said. He noticed that, unfortunately, many heroes do not get such respect in their native countries that's why the anniversary of the Great Victory which is celebrated this year should help revive the pride for our heroes. He added the Organization performed huge work to make the historical events be perceived unambiguously.

Touching upon other problems, О.Suleimenov asked whether we needed a revolution and what this term meant. «People forget that this term has changed in its original meaning. It means "to row away to fall down on the back". We do not need such revolutions as it was in Kyrgyzstan and we do not need to return back. We call for evolution but not to revolution», - he said. He worries about fate of brotherly nation which faces even a danger of losing its statehood. «In the country, where hungry people make 70% of the population, to live independently and friendly is very difficult, but it is necessary to love the Motherland and to love standing, not on the knees», the famous public figure and poet stressed.

The organizers of the meeting are the Institute of the World Economy and Policy under the Fund of the First Kazakhstan President and Al-Farabi KazNU.
