Day of Kazakh Cinematography

The first Kazakh film is "Amangeldi" directed by Mark Levin. The film tells about Amangeldi Imanov, one of the leaders of the Revolt of 1916. On September 12, 1941, the studio of feature and documentary films started making films in Almaty. Later it was renamed Kazakhfilm. In 2005, the head of the Union of Kazakhstani Cinematographers, Baurzhan Nogerbekov, suggested approving September 12 as Day of Kazakh Cinematography.


EVENTS

In 1998, a monument and a museum to Akhmet Baitursynov were unveiled in Almaty. Akhmet Baitursynov, a prominent Kazakh poet, scientist, and public figure, devoted his life to the efforts for the self-determination of the Kazakh people, the development of culture, education and science, and preserving the unique folk art and the spirit of the nation.

In 2012, the L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University in Astana hosted the presentation of the project of creating "Kumai" archaeological and ethnographic complex. It is an open-air landscape museum, which has more than 4 thousand years of history and is represented by ancient and medieval monuments of the Bronze Age, the Early Iron Age (Saka era), the Hunnic and the Turkic periods.

In 2015, the first "Eurasian Cup" Intellectual Games were held in Almaty. The teams of Kazakhstan, Russia, Azerbaijan, Germany, Georgia, Israel, Latvia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan participated in the tournament.

The same day President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev at the airport in Astana congratulated the members of the Soyuz TMA-16M international crew, who returned from the International Space Station (ISS). Kazakhstan's Aidyn Aimbetov was among those who returned to Earth. "No doubt Kazakhstanis kept their fingers crossed for Aidyn Aimbetov, who became the third cosmonaut in the history of our country. And the remarkable thing is that he made his flight in the 60th year since the construction of Baikonur, the world's first and largest spaceport," the Head of State said.

At the 13th Kazan International Muslim Film Festival in Kazan, Tatarstan, in 2017, our compatriot Dulyga Akmolda was recognized to be the best actor for his work in the film "Oralman".
