Samruk Kazyna & Chinese companies launch joint projects in Kazakhstan

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - Kazakh-Chinese project on building the Kerbulak hydroelectric power station on the Ili River will balance peak loads of southern Kazakhstan, said the Board Chairman of "Samruk-Kazyna" National Welfare Fund Umirzak Shukeyev at the Kazakh-Chinese Business Council with the participation of heads of governments of the two states.

This was reported in the press release of the Fund "Samruk-Kazyna". Co-Chair of the Board, Chairman of the Board of Samruk-Kazyna U.Shukeyev emphasized the practical significance of the round table. He stressed that the first meeting in this format with government officials, large and medium-sized enterprises of China was quite successful for both parties. There was signed a number of strategic agreements, which are important for the development of both public and private sectors. Shukeyev noted that the project of constructing HPP on the Ili River is worth $ 151.6 million. The new HPP will increase the capacity of the Kapchagai HPP from the current 250 MW to 360 MW and balance peak loads of the southern zone of Kazakhstan. U.Shukeev also touched upon the following joint projects: the construction of the first section of the main gas pipeline "Kazakhstan-China", Moinak HPP in Almaty region, and a bitumen plant in Kazakhstan. Following the meeting the companies under the group of "Samruk-Kazyna" inked a number of agreements in the fields of energy, transport, oil and gas.
