imgerei Zhanturin (1864-1920) is a public figure, one of the heads of the national-liberation movement of XX century.

He was born in Sterlitamak municipality of Ufa Governorate. He graduated from Orenburg Gymnasium, Physics-Mathematical Faculty of Moscow University and Law Faculty in St. Petersburg University.

Since 1905 he contested against the colonial policy of Russia and was one of the founders of "Soyuz Avtonomistov". The same year he took part in the congress of autonomists and was the member of "Khalyktar Bostandygy" Party. During the First Russian Revolution he helped the organization of the All-Russian Congress of Muslims.

In 1911 he published his book about Arabian-Persian words. In 1914 he issued Millyat Newspaper in Tatarian language in St. Petersburg.

In 1916 he was engaged in solution of the issues concerning education in Kazakh language. Together with M. Shokayev, S. Maksudov, A. Salikhov he collected the materials on the state of people from Turkestan region and Kazakhstan. After the February Revolution in 1917 he stated for the calling of the All-Russian Congress of Muslims aimed at regulation of political movement of Muslim people.

He was elected as the deputy of the National Meeting of Volga-Ural Autonomy (Millyat Medzhilisi). He supported Alash Orda Government and had close relations with its heads.
