ASTANA. KAZINFORM Representatives of the Almaty process member states debated refugee protection and international migration in Central Asia. Kazakh Vice Minister of Healthcare and Social Development Daulet Argandykov took part in discussions.

Those attending debated cooperation in prevention and management of unsettled migration flows in the region and detection of gaps in identifying the most vulnerable persons in complex migratory movements and the list of potential problems and risks due to withdrawal of international security assistance forces from Afghanistan in 2014. Those gathered agreed on stepping up coordination between the relevant state bodies of the member states and discussed further cooperation with international organizations in settlement of migration. The Almaty Process aims to address the multiple challenges resulting from complex migration dynamics and mixed migratory movements in Central Asia and the wider region, in a cooperative and coordinated manner. The Almaty Process promotes sustained dialogue and exchange of information on migration issues and on refugee protection challenges. Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Iran, Pakistan and Turkey are the members of its advisory and consultative body.
