ALMATY. April 12. KAZINFORM 'Reconstruction' celebrates the work of seven of the UK's leading fashion designers - Hussein Chalayan, Peter Jensen, Sophia Kokosalaki, Paul Smith, Marios Schwab, Vivienne Westwood and Osman Yousefzada. Their approaches differ markedly, but their work in this exhibition demonstrates a shared philosophy: a skilful distillation of elements of their respective pasts - either personal moments or a collective cultural heritage - to create contemporary garments with narrative.

All Kazakhstanis will have an opportunity to visit this unique, unprecedented exhibition in the atrium Central State Museum in Almaty, from 28th April to 23th May 2011 and engage in exciting activities related to the exhibition, such as professional workshops, catwalk shows and many more.

Fashion exhibition is a part of our global project New Work New Audiences (NWNA), the press service of the British Council reports.

NWNA

New Work New Audiences is the British Council's creative arts project, which builds long-term relationships between the UK and Kazakhstan through increased mutual collaboration, based on the wealth of heritage and skills in the region. The project showcases the region's creative industries and commercial arts by exploring the artistic mediums of film, music, creative writing, visual arts and design.

In Kazakhstan, the New Work New Audiences project will harness the creative energies of emerging artists, both in the traditional arts and in newer, more avant-garde and fusion art spheres, by creating collaborations of mutual interest with artists and creative education specialists in the UK.
