OzenMunayGas wells fail to reach normal operation – Oil and Gas Ministry

ASTANA. April 22. KAZINFORM - Various "OzenMunayGas" wells have not yet reached the normal operating mode.

This has been announced by Sauat Mynbaev, the Minister of Oil and Gas at the Government Hour in the Majilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

"Last year, the volume of oil and gas condensate production slightly decreased in comparison with 2011. This is due to natural processes, technical and geological factors on certain oil and gas deposits and planned maintenance work in some companies. Significant backlog of planned oil production, in particular, is associated with frequent equipment stops in TengizChevroil and railways’ repair in Russia lowered the volume of crude oil transportation. In addition, "OzenMunayGas" was not able to achieve its performance because of the unauthorized workers’ strikes in 2011 when various oil wells in the fields of Ozen and Karazhambas stopped operation and have not still come to normal regime", said Mynbaev.

The Minister also noted that Kashagan oil production startup date delay had affected the overall output rundown.
