According to Lilia Ananich, this forum is a remarkable event for the country, and the number of participants speaks volumes about Belarus' role in the global book industry. "I hope these days will be remarkable not only for Belarusians, but also for the foreigners coming to Belarus. They will be able to see our country in a new way," the First Deputy Information Minister said.

Belarus is a regular participant of international book fairs. In 2010 alone, the country took part in nine forums. Besides, Belarus will be the guest of honor at the Russian international exhibition that will gather representatives of 56 countries. Belarus' book industry has been noticed by the international book publishing community. In May this year, our country will take part in the book expo in Warsaw as the guest of honor.

Italy will display its exposition for the first time. Germany will be the guest of honor. The expo will feature over 700 books published by 250 publishing houses.

According to Deputy Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Germany to Belarus Peter Dettmar, the invitation to take part in the Minsk book forum was sent to Germany two years ago. In his view, this is a testimony to the many years of fruitful cooperation. "We hope that the literature we are going to exhibit will appeal to the taste of every visitor," Peter Dettmar said. Germany will offer an interesting program that will include meetings with authors and a book signing session.
