ALMATY. May 9. KAZINFORM /Aigul Turysbekova/ Today President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev has laid flowers to the Eternal Fire at the Memorial of Glory in the Park of 28 Panfilov Heroes.

The Head of State heartily greeted the war veterans and workers who came to pay the tribute to the memory of the fellow soldiers.

The traditional ceremony is dated to the 66th anniversary of the Victory ion the World War II.

The Park of 28 Panfilov Heroes is the eldest park of the Almaty city. It is named in honor of Panfilov division that defended approaches to Moscow in 1941. The 316th rifle division was formed in Almaty the very first months of the war. All 28 Panfilov-heroes, who had stopped the enemy's tanks at Volokolamsk were awarded the titles of Heroes of the Soviet Union

The Memorial of Glory was built in 1975 to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Great Victory.
