Nursultan Nazarbayev expresses condolences over Lee Kuan Yew’s death

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - Head of State has sent a telegram of condolences to the Prime Minister of Singapore Lee Hsien Loong in connection with the death of the first Prime Minister of Singapore Lee Kuan Yew, the press service of Akorda informs.

The telegram says that the President of Kazakhstan with deep sorrow learned about the death of Lee Kuan Yew, Singapore's founding prime minister, a prominent political figure of global proportions. "I considered him a good friend, took over his experience. Sharing the irretrievable loss on behalf of the people of Kazakhstan and on my own behalf I express my condolences to the families and friends, as well as to the people of Singapore," the telegram reads. Nursultan Nazarbayev stressed that Lee Kuan Yew has made great efforts to strengthen the global authority of Singapore, its development as a leading Asian country. "Kazakhstan will never forget the great contribution of Lee Kuan Yew to building strong friendly relations between our countries," the telegram states.
