ASTANA. KAZINFORM - Over 5 years the number of abortions among teenagers of Kazakhstan has decreased by 2 times, this has been announced today during the first national forum of the council of mothers on tolerance in the family.

"Ministry of Health and Social Development is working to improve the literacy level of the population in reproductive health issues, and these issues were raised repeatedly on the agenda of the National Commission. The share of teenage pregnancy among all pregnant women in the last 5 years has decreased by 30%. The number of abortions among teenagers has fallen by almost 2 times, but, nevertheless, the problem still exists," said a member of the National Commission on Women's Affairs and Family-Demographic Policy under the President of Kazakhstan Saltanat Baykoshkarova. In addition, she reported that over the past 5 years maternal mortality decreased by 3 times. The forum, organized by the People's Assembly of Kazakhstan jointly with the Ministry of Culture and Sports, was attended by representatives of state and non-governmental organizations, business community, as well as members of the Parliament of Kazakhstan.
