Nazarbayev signs law ratifying agr't on Turkic Academy

ASTANA. KAZINFORM Today Head of State Nursultan Nazarbayev has signed the Law of Kazakhstan "On ratification of the Agreement on the foundation of the Turkic Academy", the Akorda reports.

As earlier reported, the Head of State proposed the IX Summit of the Turkic-speaking States held in Azerbaijan back to October 3, 2009 to set up an international scientific centre to study the past, present and future of the Turkic world. The Kazakh Government decreed to found a non-for-profit joint company, the Turkic Academy. The academy will focus on scientific, museum and library activities and assist in promoting scientific findings of the Turkic languages studies. Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan and Turkey signed on August 23, 2012 an Agreement on establishing the international Turkic Academy. It specifies that the academy as an international organization will be located in Astana.
