Nazarbayev promises more schools for Kazakhstani children

ASTANA. September 1. KAZINFORM As was reported earlier, Kazakhstan's President Nursultan Nazarbayev took part in the unveiling ceremony of a new school #70 in Astana, Kazinform refers to President's press service.

While addressing the ceremony, the Head of State noted the new school was one of four schools commissioned in Astana in the new school year.

"This school equipped with modern facilities can room 1 200 children. There are approximately 270 educational institutions in Astana today. Last year schools in Astana admitted some 10 000 first graders, this year the analogous rate exceed 12 000 mark. It shows the dynamics of population growth in the capital of Kazakhstan. At this new school students can go in for sports and develop spiritually. Kazakhstani students won 23 gold medals at various international Olympiads and scientific contests last year. It is necessary to keep up the same pace," Nursultan Nazarbayev said.

President Nazarbayev especially stressed 146 new schools would open their doors in 2012 in the country, 522 more schools were to be built by 2015.

"The country does its best and pays a lot of attention to creating conditions necessary to gain decent education. All that we have done through 20 years of independence lays the foundation for further development. Continue to perfect your mind and body - study and go in for sports!" the Kazakh Leader told schoolchildren at the opening ceremony.
