ANA. October 6. KAZINFORM  The history of the Kazakh people has a lot of heroes, legendary commanders who fought for independence. Their dignified followers who distinguished themselves in military administration work among us at present. One of the brave sons of the Kazakh people is Vice Minister of Defense Mukhtar Altynbayev.

Mukhtar Altynbayev was born on December, 10, 1945 in Karaganda city. His father was a director of Karaganda mine Nr.12, his mother was a housewife. His working experience started in 1962 when he worked as a mine worker. There he worked till 1969. His further life was connected with military service.

In 1969 he entered the Highest Military Flying School in Armavir city. After his successful study he became a pilot of aviation destructive regiment in Perm city, then a flight commander and then a squadron commander. In 1982 he attended G. Zhukov Military Academy. In 1985 he was a deputy corps commander of Turkestan Air Command.

Mukhtar Altynbayev is one of those people who brought a substantial contribution into formation and development of military sphere of Kazakhstan. Today's success in the organizations of Kazakhstan's Armed Forces can be justly connected with his name. He could justify the confidence of the Head of the State and contribute to the development of our army in difficult transition period of our country.

His popularity and reputation in society is proved by several publications in mass media. Newspaper 'Egemen Kazakhstan' writes the following:

"According to his colleagues he had a reputation of the exacting but just head. Military bearing and high humanness are ideally combined in his character. His father Kapash moved in Zhezkazgan in 30-es and devoted his life to mining...

Perhaps heroic feats of his legendary countrymen as T. Begeldinov and N. Abdirov influenced on his choice. Nevertheless in 1969 when he joined the Soviet Army he twisted his fortune with military schooling forever. Moving up the career leader in 1979 he was appointed as a commander of the aviation regiment of Uralsk military command.

It should be noted that the regiment headed by colonel Altynbayev that time was the best one in the USSR. After his graduation from G. Zhukov Military Academy in 1985 he was appointed a deputy commander of air defense corps of the Turkestan military command then he was a division commander...

Having returned to the native land M. Altynbatyev under the Order of President of Kazakhstan N. Nazarbayev and under his leadership he took an active part in formation of the Armed Forces of the country. In 1992-1993 he was a corps commander of the air forces, vice minister of defense of Kazakhstan; in 1996 he commanded by Military Air Forces of Kazakhstan.

From October 1996 to December 1999 he became minister of defense of Kazakhstan. In December 1999 he was appointed a commander of Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Kazakhstan. In 2001 he was newly appointed a minister of defense of Kazakhstan. Since 2007 he is a chairman of Chief of Staff Committee, first vice minister of defense.

His impeccable labor for the benefit of the native land was marked by several awards as 'Otan' order, "Golden Star" order, such medals as 'For Honorable Service', 'Astana', '10 Years of Armed Forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan' and others.

Mukhtar Altynabyev was awarded the title "Halyk Kaharmany".
