Monument to Lev Gumilyov to be unveiled in Astana

    ASTANA. October 10. KAZINFORM The IX international scientific forum dated to the 100th anniversary of an outstanding scientist Lev Gumilyov is underway in Astana.

The event has been organized by the L.Gumilyov Eurasian National University.

The forum has brought together eminent scientists, public and political figures from 15 countries of the world.

"On May 23, 1996 the Head of State decreed establishment of the Eurasian University in Astana and named it after Lev Gumilyov. Our forum is dedicated to the 100^th jubilee of this great scientist," Y. Sydykov, President of the university, said in his opening speech.

According to him, a new monument to the scientist is to be erected in Astana. iIt will be installed near the university.
