Medical degrees from Ukraine not recognized

JEDDAH. April 27. KAZINFORM The Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCHS) will no longer recognize the qualifications of graduates from health colleges in the Ukraine, a local newspaper reported.

The decision was taken by the SCHS's board of trustees, chaired by Minister of Health Dr. Abdullah Al-Rabeeah, because of the substandard skills of these graduates. Abdullah Al-Zuhian, spokesman of the SCHS, said that recruitment would focus on properly qualified staff. He said that the Ukrainian Education Ministry has been informed of the decision.

Al-Zuhian also admitted that the academic qualifications of graduates of health institutes in the Kingdom are below average.
