EVENTS

The constitutive congress of the Koreans of Kazakhstan took place in Almaty in 1990. The republican association of Korean cultural centres of Kazakhstan was established then.

In 1994 the Kazakh Foreign Ministry sent a note of Kazakhstan's recognition of independence of the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia.

The Central Election Commission of Kazakhstan was founded in 1995.

Altyn Zhuldyz (The Golden Star) national mass media award was inaugurated in 1995.

The Higher Military College of the Kazakh Interior Ministry was founded in 1997 in Petropavlovsk.

In 2000 Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev was awarded the Great order of merit for services rendered to the Republic of Austria for merits in strengthening of friendly ties between Austria and Kazakhstan.

The Kazcosmos National Company JSC was established in 2005 lately referred to as Kazakhstan Garysh Sapary National Company JSC.

In 2009 the Military College was renamed as the Military Institute of the Interior Ministry Troops of Kazakhstan, and the Military Institute of the Interior Ministry Troops of Kazakhstan was renamed as the Military Institute of the National Guard of Kazakhstan.

Buiratau State National Nature Park was established in 2011 to preserve unique steppe ecosystems of Central Kazakhstan's hillocky area.
A solemn award ceremony of the 1st National TV Award Tumar took place in Astana in 2017.

In 2018 the OECD Council approved Kazakhstan's application to join the Organization's Steel Committee.
