Man removed from flight in Almaty airport tested for Ebola after West Africa tour

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - A 37-year-old citizen of Kostanay region Sergey Baryshnikov has been placed in isolation pending tests for the Ebola virus, the press service of the National Economy Ministry of Kazakhstan informs.

March 15 a plane en route Istanbul - Almaty was met by Emergency response officials at Almaty International Airport after a passenger on board exhibited possible signs of Ebola.

"Specialists of the Institute for Quarantine and Zoogenous Diseases produced selection of blood tests for Ebola. The final result will be available in 18 - 20 hours," the statement reads.

It was found out that the patient and his friend have been in Guinea on a business trip from 9 to 14 March. During the last three days Baryshnikov was complaining of high fever and diarrhea. Sergey Baryshnikov and his friend Vladimir Rudenko, a citizen of Russian Federation, have been urgently hospitalized in the adult infectious diseases hospital of Almaty. The aircraft was directed to a sanitary parking.

At the moment the patient's body temperature is within normal limits. Hi is diagnosed with SARS and acute nasopharyngitis. The final test results will be available in 18-20 hours.
