ASTANA. June 3. KAZINFORM - Kazakhstan's role in the world is growing as per the President of Latvia Andris Berzins. He spoke at the opening of the Kazakh-Latvian business forum in Astana.

"Your country is the main trade partner of Latvia in Central Asia. We see that the role of Kazakhstan in the world is increasing, " said Andris Berzins.

He stressed that Latvia invited to become a member of the Organization for Economic Development. This is a very important moment for the country, in compliance with the words of the President, who will help to develop the business. In addition, this year will end with the process of joining the euro area.

According to the Chamber of Commerce in Kazakhstan, the trade turnover between our country and Latvia in 2012 amounted to 344.5 million U.S. dollars. The main products exported by Kazakhstan to the Republic of Latvia are petroleum products, cotton fiber, flax seeds, iron ingots for remelting. In turn, exports from Latvia are wood products, pharmaceuticals, construction materials, and fish products.
