ASTANA. KAZINFORM - In the past year, food imports in Kazakhstan exceeded USD 4 billion, this has been reported today by the chairman of the Statistics Agency Alikhan Smailov during Government Hour in the Majilis.
"There is 5 % increase in comparison with the same period of 2012. It should be noted that in 2012 the figure rose by 5 % compared with the previous year", said A. Smailov.
In general imports of foodstuffs within home market scheme increased from 21.4% to 21.6 %.
"However, in connection with tenge rate adjustment food imports will decrease", concluded A. Smailov.
