hakhmet Shuakov (1907-1990) was a scientist, surgeon, doctor of medical sciences, professor, honored doctor of Kazakhstan, honored worker of science of Kazakhstan.

He was born in Sharbakty village of Alakol municipality in Almaty region.

In 1928 he finished faculty in Kazan; in 1936 he graduated from Almaty State Medical Institute (now S.D. Asfendiyarov Kazakh National Medical University). In 1936-1945 he worked as surgeon, chief doctor of the district hospital, chief doctor of the hospital in Karkaraly of Karaganda region.

In 1945-1947 he was the assistant to the chair of hospital surgery in Almaty Medical Institute. In 1947-1956 he was the junior research worker, deputy director of the Kazakh Institute for clinical and experimental surgery.

In 1956-1963 he was the rector and head of the department for general surgery in Semipalatinsk Medical Institute (now Semipalatinsk State Medical Academy).

In 1963-1981 he was the head of department for general surgery in Almaty Medical Institute (now S.D. Asfendiyarov Kazakh National Medical University). He is the author of 4 monographs, over 97 scientific works devoted to the issues of prevention and treatment of thymus glands.

He was awarded with the Orders of Red Banner, October Revolution, "Badge of Honor" and several medals.
