Kokshetau mayor dies aged 56

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - Mayor of Kokshetau city Zhomart Nurgaliyev has passed away at a cardiac surgery center on Thursday night (October 29).

The press service of the Kokshetau city administration says the 56-year-old official died of myocardial infarction. "On Thursday evening Mayor Nurgaliyev was at a concert dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the Great Patriotic War when he felt unwell. Paramedics rushed him to the cardiac surgery center, but he was pronounced dead upon arrival," his secretary Gaukhar Uzbekova confirmed. Zhomart Nurgaliyev was appointed mayor of Kokshetau city in June 2014 right after the resignation of his predecessor Zharkyn Zhumagulov. Born in March 1958, Zhomart Nurgaliyev was a graduate of the Kostanay Pedagogic Institute. Prior to assuming the office of Kokshetau mayor, he served as governor of Auliyekolskiy district of Kostanay region.
