FRENCH GUIANA. KAZINFORM The Europe's Vega carrier rocket with the first Kazakhstan's earth remote sensing satellite on board has been successfully launched today at 07:35 by Astana time from the Kourou space centre, French Guiana.

The first Kazakhstani satellite was built entirely by Airbus Defense and Space) formerly known as EADS Astrium) and is a very high-resolution (1 metre) satellite weighing 900 kg that will provide Kazakhstan with a complete range of civil applications, including monitoring of natural and agricultural resources, the provision of mapping data, security applications, and support for rescue operations in the event of natural disasters.
