Kazakhstan, U.S. have high potential for further successful interaction

ASTANA. January 21. KAZINFORM Majilis Speaker Nurlan Nigmatulin has met today with Chargé d'Affaires at the U.S. Embassy in Astana Mr. John Ordway, the chamber's press service reports.

While discussing the problems that are high on the agenda, the sides shared their thoughts on the prospects for Kazakhstan's further development in the context of suggestions voiced by President Nazarbayev in his recent State-of-the-Nation Address "Kazakhstan's way: Common goal, common interests, common future".

Mr. Nigmatulin noted the upcoming decade looks quite promising for Kazakhstan. In his words, Kazakhstani parliamentarians are to better the legal framework for future development of innovative industrialization, agro-industrial complex, knowledge-intensive economy, social protection of Kazakhstanis, infrastructure, and SME.

"We will shape up a solid legal framework of the Kazakhstan-2050 Development Strategy," he added.

Ambassador Ordway lauded high pace of Kazakhstan's development, underscoring that the State-of-the-Nation Address opens doors to a brighter future for the country.

Having emphasized the need to strengthen the Kazakhstani-American partnership in all spheres, Nurlan Nigmatulin and John Ordway pointed out the importance of the meeting of presidents of Kazakhstan and the U.S. on the sidelines of the G20 Summit. The top-level meeting focused on the expansion of bilateral cooperation, especially in the field of non-proliferation and regional security.

The interlocutors also touched upon the role Kazakhstan played in the stabilization of situation in Afghanistan.

The Majilis Speaker also said Kazakhstani lawmakers place high priority on the buildup of Kazakhstani-American parliamentary ties.

In conclusion, both Nigmatulin and Ordway expressed confidence that the two countries have high potential for further successful interaction.
