Kazakhstan to train highly-professional neurophysiologists and epileptologists

ALMATY. April 1. KAZINFORM An unprecedented campaign on training of neurologists-neurophysiologists has started in Kazakhstan.

In his State-of-the-Nation Address Nursultan Nazarbayev gave special priority to the development of country's healthcare as a guarantee of the health of the nation and future generations. One of the main tasks is not just to improve the quality of health services but to bring it to the level of the world clinics. Nevertheless, there are still some spheres that require immediate transformations, otherwise, our standstill likely to rebound our medicine. First of all, it concerns epileptology, a branch of neurology which focuses specifically on the study and treatment of epilepsy.

Today Kazakhstan lacks neurophysiologists and epileptologists. Before the opening of the faculty of post-graduate education in Kazakhstan with the support of the SVS Nevro (union of physicians and patients) the country's doctors had no modern approaches meeting the standards of international associations, no researches were done.

As the world statistics indicate about 0.5%- 1.5% of the population suffer from epilepsy.
