Kazakhstan supports TB control strategy of WHO Regional Committee for Europe

ASTANA. September 12. KAZINFORM A Kazakh delegation, led by Kazakh Healthcare Minister Salidat Kairbekova, is taking part in the 61st session of the Regional Committee for Europe of the World Health Organization started in Baku, the Ministry's press service informs.

The Kazakh Minister participated in discussions on non-contagious diseases prevention, regulation of international healthcare, prevention and fighting against HIV/AIDS.

Taking the floor, the Minister made suggestions on the development of health and social services, an institute of a social worker to improve people's living standards, welfare gain, and further development of public health.

In recent years the country's epidemiological situation of tuberculosis has been showing the uptrend. During 2008-2010 disease incidence in country reduced by 24.1%, mortality rates by 37.3% per mille. Kazakhstan fully supports the WHO supports TB control strategy of WHO Regional Committee for Europe, the Minister added.
