"Kazakhstan's SCO presidency 2010-2011" conference kicked off in Almaty

ALMATY. May 6. KAZINFORM /Berik Bekmurzayev/ "Kazakhstan's presidency over the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) enters final straight," deputy head of the foreign policy centre of the Presidential Administration of Kazakhstan Tolezhan Barlybayev told today during the international conference ""Kazakhstan's SCO presidency 2010-2011".

To date the SCO is a constitutive of the modern architecture of the global and regional security. For 10 years the SCO succeeded in building up effective mechanisms of regional cooperation in a wide range of interstate interaction spheres. The growing role of the Organization in countering traditional and new challenges lets SCO act an influential subject of the international policy.

Those gathered are expected to focus on the current state and prospects for cooperation in ensuring regional stability and security, discuss further deepening of economic cooperation, and specify priorities of the development of the socio-cultural interstate dialogue.

Reps of the Presidential Administration and Kazakh MFA, SCO Secretary General, leading experts of state and independent analytic structures of SCO member states, reps of international organizations, diplomatic corps accredited in Kazakhstan are attending the conference.
