Kazakhstan, OECD sign Memorandum of Country Program of Cooperation for 2015-2016 in Davos

ASTANA-DAVOS. KAZINFORM - Today in Davos at the World Economic Forum, Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Karim Massimov and Secretary General of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) Angel Gurria have signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the OECD on the implementation of the Country Program of Cooperation for 2015-2016.

The program provides for reforms and implementation of major projects in key areas of socio-economic development of Kazakhstan. The country program will provide Kazakhstan with an opportunity to join a number of OECD declarations and recommendations, Kazinform refers to primeminister.kz.

Bilateral cooperation between Kazakhstan and the OECD will enhance the country's competitiveness in public administration, education, health, employment, fiscal policy, improve its business climate.

Following the signing ceremony, Karim Massimov said that "the country program is a strategically important stage of bilateral cooperation, and it confirms the aspiration of Kazakhstan to implement best practices in the OECD countries in order to achieve long-term goal of joining the world's top 30 developed countries in 2050." In turn, Angel Gurria also noted the importance of the signed document.

"Kazakhstan is a country with a leading economy in Central Asia, and strategically located at the crossroads of Europe and Asia," Secretary-General of the OECD added.
