"Nine years ago during the I Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions, Kazakhstan was referred to as the land of peace and consent. One of the backbones of the consent is our unanimity in perception of timeless values of goods, peace and justice. Today, on the Remembrance Day of victims of political repression and famine we remember two tragic dates. This year marks the 80th anniversary of mass famine and the 75th anniversary since the beginning of political repressions. 7 million people were killed at large. 1.5 of them died in Kazakhstan. We have gathered here today to eternalize our memory and unveil the Famine Memorial," the President said.
