Kazakhstan hosts international anti-corruption conference

ALMATY. March 11. KAZINFORM A three-day international conference aimed at battling corruption has opened in Almaty.

The conference began on March 9 and will last three days. It is being attended by more than 150 delegates from 60 countries and representatives of the OSCE, the U.N., the Council of Europe, the "Transparency International" non-governmental organization and the Group of States against Corruption, Kazinform cites Xinhua.

"This conference is emphasizing the importance of further joint efforts in returning assets and creating an effective system to counter corruption in international arena. This issue is particularly acute in view of the rapidly evolving process of economical globalization" , -- said Kairat Kozhamzharov, the head of the Financial Police of Kazakhstan.

The delegates were expected to adopt a communique on combining efforts in returning assets and countering international corruption.
