Kazakhstan holds leading positions in Central Asia - Personal Envoy of OSCE Chairman-in-Office for Cooperation with Asian Partners Ertan Tezgor
Ertan Tezgor is one of the well experienced and authoritative representatives of modern Turkish diplomacy who started his career in China and South Korea. He held the post of the Turkish Ambassador to Georgia, Armenia. On February 22, 2010 Ertan Tezgor was appointed Personal Envoy of OSCE Chairman-in-Office Kanat Saudabayev for Cooperation with Asian Partners (Japan, Republic of Korea, Thailand, Mongolia and Australia).
"To date Kazakhstan can certainly be named as a rising star in Central Asia. In many respects it could be possible due to the efforts of Kazakh Leader N. Nazarbayev", E. Tezgor noted in an interview to a Kazinform correspondent upon completion of the session of the OSCE Contact Group for Cooperation with Asian Partners. In this view, he emphasized that election of Kazakhstan to the post of the OSCE presiding country demonstrated recognition of its growing regional and international weight by the world.
As the Personal Envoy of OSCE Chairman-in-Office noted, Astana's clear vision of the current international political situation, urgent global problems as well as the priority tasks set to the Organization were fully reflected in the Kazakh President's Article "Fate and Prospects of the OSCE". In this context E. Tezgor said Turkey fully supported Kazakhstan's idea to hold the OSCE summit in Astana in 2010.
Speaking on the prospects of cooperation of the OSCE with Asian partners the Turkish Diplomat stressed stable positive tendencies in the process of development of the relations based on mutual interests of the sides in further strengthening of partnership. Along with this, he highlighted that chairmanship of Kazakhstan in this authoritative Organization could give an additional impulse to development of cooperation of the OSCE with Asian countries most of which are members of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA).
