Kazakhstan apple trees planted in New York Central Park

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - New York has held a special lecture on the history of Kazakhstani apples.

The lecture was organized by the Consulate General of the Republic of Kazakhstan in New York, a non-profit organization "Kazakh-American alliance", office of the Mayor of New York City and the Central Park. One of the speakers Ethan Roland Solaviev, president of the Apios Institute, told about his impressions of the Almaty mountains, which he thoroughly examined while studying the origin and varieties of Kazakhstani apples. He noted that the mountains all covered with wild apple are the cradle of the world apple economy. There are apple trees reaching a height of 20 meters. Dr. Gennaro Fazio talked about the features of the Kazakh apple saying that the fruit has high resistance to different diseases. The most attractive part of the event was planting Kazakh apple trees in the Central Park of New York City. After that the round table's participants had the opportunity to taste different varieties of Kazakhstani apples. In conclusion, Consul General Raushan Yesbulatova presented the First Deputy Commissioner of the New York City Liam Kavanahu a mini-sculpture of an apple.
