Kazakhstan and China to create a 'green corridor' at Bakhty customs post

URUMQI. May 16. KAZINFORM - Nurlan Ermekbayev, the Kazakh Ambassador to China is on a working visit to the Xinjiang-Uygur Autonomous Region of China.

On Thursday N.Ermekbayev held a meeting with the directory administration of departments of agriculture, commerce of the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corp, as well as representatives of local businesses which interest the Ambassador in the field of cooperation development.

"Kazakhstan is concerned with the Chinese experience in the implementation of drip irrigation and water conservation technologies. The cooperation in the creation of a full cycle enterprises in the livestock field, i.e. the production of feed and up to meat and dairy products as well as the establishment of agricultural parks. That has been agreed by the Heads of the State at the bilateral meetings", said Nurlan Ermekbayev.

Speaking about the development of cross-border trade N.Ermekbayev noted that in order to simplify the customs procedures between the two countries it has been planed to create a "green corridor" at the "Bakhty" customs post. In the nearest future the parties will sign the relevant document.

"The commissioning of the second railway line at Khorgos, functioning of "Khorgos ", the Kazakhstani-Chinese International Center of Border Cooperation create additional opportunities for expanding trade and economic collaboration between Kazakhstan and China", said the Ambassador.

The visit plans to review the national park of modern agricultural economy in Wujiaqu, to get around the modern city of Shihezi and to familiarize with the activity of local farms as well as water management and irrigation facilities.

Xinjiang Production and Construction Corp was established in 1954 as part of the economy of Xinjiang-Uygur Autonomous Region. The Corp employs more than 2.6 million people. Its structure consists of 14 divisions, 175 regimental farms and about 3.5 thousand enterprises. The case focuses on the development of agriculture.
