Kazakh President receives letter from leaders of Spanish organizations

ASTANA. November 7. KAZIFORM - President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev has received a letter from the leaders of the Spanish public organizations with deep gratitude for the transferred archive materials on the Spaniards retained in the Karaganda labor camp, according to the press service of the President.

The materials were handed over during an official visit of Mariano Rajoy, the Prime Minister of Spain, to Astana.

"You are the first and, so far, the only Head of state of the former Soviet Union who showed humanity and willingness to promote the recovery of the historical memory about those tragic years. We are deeply touched and grateful to you", the Secretary General of ''AGE'' ( Archives of war and emigration of Spain) fund D.Kabra and the President of the foundation called "Nostalgia" M.Arse and others express in the statement.

The authors also noted the particular relevance of materials that are invaluable for relatives and friends as well as researchers.

The event has made considerable resonance in the Spanish mass media and the public of the country.
