Kazakh Ombudsman meets with Head of OSCE Center in Astana

ASTANA. February 8. KAZINFORM Kazakh Human Rights Commissioner Askar Shakirov met with newly-appointed Head of OSCE Center in Astana Natalia Zarudnaya on Wednesday in Astana, the Ombudsman's press service reported.

Shakirov expressed satisfaction with the effective and mutually beneficial cooperation with this organization. In recent years, the sides have implemented a number of joint projects aimed at ensuring the protection of human rights and freedoms in Kazakhstan, improving the national human rights institution. Representatives of central government bodies, local authorities, non-governmental sector, mass media have been widely involved in implementing these projects.

The sides discussed further bilateral cooperation between the Office of Kazakh Ombudsman and the OSCE Centre in Astana, development of contacts in the field of human rights, aimed at the development of national legislation, education, and educating citizens in the field of protection of human rights and freedoms.
