Kazakh bicycle racer named best on Tour d'Azerbaidjan

BAKU. May 6. KAZINFORM - Today the final phase of the fifth international cycle tour Tour d'Azerbaidjan dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the National leader Heydar Aliyev has completed.

The participants of the competition having started in Baku on Azadlig Square drove through the main streets and avenues of the capital for 12 turns the total length was 144 kilometers.

The winner of the general classification was Sergei Greczyn (Torku Sekerspor, Turkey). The second place gained by Alexander Surutkovich (Synergy), the third place went to Bakhtiar Kozhataev (Kazakhstan) who was recognized as the best young racer of the tour.

Thomas Vaitkus, the Lithuanian national team, became the winner of the stage. Second place belomhs to Sean de Bien, the representative of the Leopard (Luxembourg) team; the third place is taken by Constant Gaudry from the Dutch Rabobank.

Connor Makkonvi, the Synergy racer, became the mountain king of the Tour d'Azerbaidjan. Christoph Schweitzer, the representative of the Azerbaijan team, won the sprint classification.

In general team classification the winner was the Portuguese team Efapel - Glassdrive. Azerbaijan’s best cyclist was declared Elchin Assad.

Bicycle tour «Tour d'Azerbaïdjan» is a competition of category 2.2 UCI Europe Tour.
