Karaganda court refuses to release ex-Mayor Abdishev on bail (PHOTO)

KARAGANDA. KAZINFORM - Former Mayor of Karaganda region Baurzhan Abdishev has been accused of abuse of power.

Kazybekbi district court refused to free Baurzhan Abdishev from pre-trial detention. Meanwhile, the three lawyers asked to release the defendant on bail but the court instead sentenced Abdishev to two months in pre-trial detention. B. Abdishev has been charged under Article 307 part 4 of the Criminal Code "Abuse of power resulting in serious consequences". As Kazinform previously reported, B. Abdishev was arrested on September 24 on suspicion of abuse of power. It bears to remind that B. Abdishev was appointed Governor of Karaganda region in January 2013. He was dismissed from the post in June 2014. Nurmukhambet Abdibekov was assigned to a position of the regional Akim. Previously he served as first deputy Mayor of Aktobe region.
