BRUSSELS. December 20. KAZINFORM - Joint Declaration on enhancing cooperation between Kazakhstan and the Council of Europe was signed at the Council of Europe's Brussels Office.

During the event, Almaz Khamzaev, head of Kazakhstan mission in the EU, and Thorbjorn Froysnes, representative of the Council of Europe to the EU, presented "Priorities for cooperation with neighboring Kazakhstan for 2014-2015: cooperation in criminal conventions of the Council of Europe."
T.Froysnes noted that "Kazakhstan is the first country in Central Asia to sign a joint declaration with the Council of Europe. Adoption of this document is an important step for further intensification of cooperation and creation of conditions required for Kazakhstan's accession to the Council of Europe's conventions in the field of criminal justice. "
The event was attended by representatives of the European Parliament, the European External Action Service, the Directorate General for Development and Cooperation of the European Commission as well as diplomats accredited in Brussels.
