Iraqi MP supports proposal to award Nobel Peace Prize to Nursultan Nazarbayev

ASTANA. August 29. KAZINFORM "We support the proposal to award the Nobel Peace Prize to Mr. Nursultan Nazarbayev," Humam Hamoudi, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Iraqi Parliament said during the international conference "From the nuclear test ban to a world free of nuclear weapons" in Astana.

"I think the speech of President Nazarbayev at the conference is the strategic report, which presents his views on the future. He touched upon the threats and challenges facing the world. Of course, the first among these threats is a nuclear threat. He also raised a very serious issue of trust between the states in order to reach the goal - a world free of nuclear weapons," Humam Hamoudi stated.

The Iraqi parliamentarian noted the need to distribute the report of President Nazarbayev so the people in different countries can study it. According to H.Hamoudi, parliamentarians from around the world will support the idea of ​​the President of Kazakhstan to establish the Anti-Nuclear Parliamentary Assembly, and generally anti-nuclear initiatives of N. Nazarbayev get broad support of the international community.

H.Hamoudi noted that Kazakhstan and Iraq could successfully cooperate, including in the area of nonproliferation of nuclear weapons. He also said that he would disseminate the ideas of Nursultan Nazarbayev among Arab parliamentarians.
