Iran to open its general consulate in Almaty, Kazakhstan

MATY. September 14. KAZINFORM Today Almaty Mayor Akhmetzhan Yessimov has met with Iranian Ambassador to Kazakhstan Gorban Seifi, the Mayor's office reports.

The parties debated a number of joint economic projects and prospects for further cooperation. 16 operating joint ventures and 44 companies with Iranian capital are registered in Almaty so far. Last year the commodity turnover between Almaty and Iran made USD 115 mln.

The Iranian ambassador told about the opening of the Iranian consulate general in Almaty. Besides, Mr Seifi offered to establish partnership relations between Almaty and Mashhad, the second largest city in Iran.
